Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen’s classic romantic comedy
adapted and directed by Sherree Halliwell
Synopsis
Marriage is an inevitable fact of life for the Bennet sisters. With the family estate entailed away to a cousin they’ve never met, their only hope of advancement is to find rich husbands. Under the watchful eye of their absurd mother, the young ladies brave the snobbish 1920s upper class British society to seek their fortunes.
Fearless, feisty Elizabeth Bennet is the pluckiest heroine ever to ignore her mother’s romantic advice. When she meets the tall, dark, brooding Darcy, sparks and insults fly! Will love prevail over his pride and her prejudice?
Pride and Prejudice is a rapturous romantic comedy, timelessly propelled by Jane Austen’s delightful characters and witty observations, adapted and directed for Toowoomba Repertory Theatre by Sherree Halliwell.
